Safer Operations
   Our Company
   Our Presence

SAFER Exploration & Production Operations Company, known globally as SAFER, is Yemen's leading national oil and gas Company.
With exclusive enterprise rights to Yemen's premier Block 18, SAFER has grown into the largest producer of natural gas and second largest producer of oil in the country.
This remarkable growth is attributed to SAFER's upstream & midstream operations that harness the potential of Block 18 and its neighbors.

Upstream and midstream operations, which include exploration, capture, and refinement are harnessed in conjunction with SAFER's ancillary capabilities, such as proprietary FSO and pipeline transportation, mooring stations, and terra firma storage and transport facilities. As of 2013, SAFER's comprehensive services provide Yemen and its citizens with over 40,000 barrels of oil per day; 2.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day; and 28,000 barrels of liquefied petroleum gas per day. This output, translated into hard currency, amounts to an injection of over $1 billion a year for the people of Yemen. SAFER's output, remarkable for Yemen's geographic size, is the utilities, logistics, and economic bedrock of the country.

   Our Past

After more than 25 years of continuous crude oil production, SAFER was established on March 23, 1997 as Yemen's national oil and gas enterprise.
Empowered by auspices and legalities of The Yemen Republic, SAFER was entrusted to carry out energy exploration and production operations in the country's national interest. On November 15, 2005 SAFER was granted exclusive enterprise rights to oil & gas operations in Yemen's premier Block 18 in the Marib basin.
This was a landmark achievement for SAFER as Block 18 developed into one of Yemen's largest sources of crude oil and liquefied petroleum and natural gas. After gaining exclusive access to Block 18, SAFER developed and commissioned the infrastructure required for exploration and capture operations.
By 2007 SAFER added a second drilling rig and continued operating with two drilling rigs through 2009.
From 2009 onward, SAFER reached its highest output levels for barrel oil equivalent production and delivery.
During this time, Safer has also been pivotal in the sustainability and protection of Block 18, introducing state-of-the-art seismic mapping, monitoring, and evaluation systems.
From 2005 to 2013, SAFER's has created, set, and achieved many remarkable goals. During SAFER's tenure, the company has provided stewardship for the unique abundance of Block 18; maintained the trans-Yemen pipeline; developed the Rsa Isa FSO into a viable export terminal; delivered the critical inputs for Yemen's LNG power plants; and injected billions of dollars into the Yemeni economy. Given the past successes, SAFER's future looks productive, healthy, and bright.

SAFER also produces and delivers daily, critical inputs for Yemen's utility grid, including 10,000 barrels of crude oil to the Marib province refinery; 1,200 million cubic feet of gas to the installation at Balhaf; and 75 million cubic feet to the Marib power station.

To facilitate the transportation and storage of these critical inputs, SAFER utilizes a countrywide storage network, proprietary pipeline channel, and FSO storage and mooring facility.
